Sweepings...

On October 26, 2000 the first annual Fall cattle drive was held in Robinsons, NF. Angela Gill organized the drive which took beef cattle from the community pasture to their winter homestead 18kms down the road. This event is a heck of a lot of fun on horseback. We enjoyed it so much and the cattle owners are so happy for the assistance we will be doing the drive in the spring as well. Anyone wishing to participate spring or fall contact: angela.gill@nf.sympatico.ca Special thanks to John Wells for his support of this activity.

Check out your provincial 'Sweepings' on the website. We would love to hear the local news from your area! Please email to donna@atlanticrider.com

Horses in Unexpected Places

Horses are 'in the news' yet again. Tuesday (October 31st) saw the National Post feature an article about a woman's first adventure with cattle penning. The article, entitled Thunk! She's Back. Back In The Saddle describes the rider as the only person who has ever screamed during a penning! Kathy Richards also says, "My husband said he'd never seen so much air between an ass and a saddle in his life." In spite of a great start, followed by a collision with a steer, the author maintained her smile... and her love of riding. Full article.
