It's Derby Week!

On Saturday, Churchill Downs will see the 127th Run for the Roses. The traditions include the hat parade - where fashion ranges from the fantastic to the sublime in this 'post' parade of a different breed! The infield gathering is part Woodstock, part family reunion... an exercise of the first rites of spring - Louisville style! The trophy: 56 ounces of 14 and 18 karat gold, nearly two feet tall - the luck stays in the horseshoe. To learn more about the traditions of the Derby - and the 127th running itself - visit Churchill Downs on the web.

David O'Connor in Winner's Circle at Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

Sydney Olympic Champion David O'Connor proved why he is the best in the world with a win at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bayer. O'Connor of The Plains, VA, gave a clear jumping effort with the 15-year-old Giltedge, owned by Jacqueline Mars, in the final phase of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event to win the only Olympic-level three-day event held in North America.  Sitting in third position heading into the final phase, O'Connor put the pressure on with a penalty-free ride and watched as Bryce Newman and overnight leader Andrew Nicholson, both of New Zealand, had rails down to put them out of the running.  O'Connor's final score of 38.6 penalties proved unbeatable, handing O'Connor the title. More on O'Connor's win...
