Cindy Harris and Sadie, from Noonan, NB are this week's featured team. Ebony Fantastic Dawn, aka Sadie, surprised everyone with a foal one very cold morning last February. Neither Cindy, nor the people who owned Sadie previously, had any idea she was in foal! Rider of the Week.

SWANA (Swedish Warmblood Association of North America) Comes to the Maritimes
On September 20, the Maritimes’ first Swedish Warmblood Association of North America (SWANA) horse inspection took place here in the Valley at Fairhill Farm, owned by Dr Kathryn Diefenbach, Aylesford, and Swede Horse Farm, owned by Carin Aiff, Tremont. Out of the nine inspections taking place on this tour, only two were scheduled in Canada, one here and one on the West Coast. More on the SWANA inspection.
Sweepings...
Baxters' Cattle Company will be moving their regular circuit shows to a new venue for the 2001 season: the Annapolis County Exhibition grounds in Lawrencetown, NS. There's everything for competitor and spectators - large ring, warm-up ring, lots of stabling, plenty of parking, and grandstands. BCC will also be expanding to include a barrel and pole show on the Saturday before each Sunday penning date.

Jon Costin Leads Dressage Riders to Swarovski Canadian League Final
Riding Whitehaven, Costin, 31, earned 40 points throughout the Canadian League qualifying season which saw grand prix riders competing in World Cup Qualifiers both in Canada and the United States. Most notably, Costin and the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding won the Grand Prix Freestyle at CDI-W Raleigh, NC, with a mark of 65.63%. More.
Calgary's Jason Grimshaw Claims First Reining Canada Cup
Jason Grimshaw of Calgary, AB, won the $10,000 Canada Cup riding Listo Pollito Lena, an eight-year-old quarter horse stallion owned by Robert Thompson. In 1999, Grimshaw was the World Champion for senior working cow horse and placed fifth in the National Reining Horse Association's open division standings. In addition to the prize money he collected for winning the Canada Cup, Grimshaw will also have use of a 300 XT Exiss trailer for one year, donated by Bar T 5 Trailers of Millarville, AB. Frankie Chesler Dominates Jump Canada Series
The 19-year-old jumped to the top of the standings following the Tournament of Champions, the final stop on the Jump Canada Series tour before the Royal Horse Show. With Ravenna Z, Sher-Al Farms' 11-year-old Hannoverian mare, Chesler has accumulated 183.2 points in the national series. More on the Jump Canada Series.
Canadian Show Jumping Team Ninth at Sydney Olympics
With a clear effort in the first round followed by just one-knock down in the second, Millar, 53, of Perth, ON, put forward a strong performance with Dorincord, a nine-year-old Hannoverian gelding. More on Canada's Show Jumping Team.

Lippitt of the Year for the second year in a row. The five-year-old horse was
recently awarded the Robert Lippitt Knight
trophy for his contributions to the breed profile over the last 12 months. More

Ian Millar and Jonathan Asselin Finish Olympics in Top Twenty
In the first round, Millar lowered just one fence over the 15 obstacle course with the nine-year-old Dorincord, leaving him tied for fifth with four faults. Coming into the second round, Millar, 53, had two rails and exceeded the tight time allowed of 83 seconds to pick up a quarter time fault. His two-round total of 12.25 faults allowed him to finish his seventh Olympic Games in 13th position. More on Canada's top jumping finishes.
