Atlantic Rider of the Week

Katelyn Short and Shasta Bay entered their first Dressage show in Port Elgin, NB this year and did quite well. Katelyn and Shasta have been together for almost four years. Katelyn will be moving to a new horse in the spring, but will always remember Shasta as her very first pony. Katelyn will also be reminded of Shasta when she begins riding her filly in about three years. Katelyn is from Tidnish, NS and rides out of Galloway Stables in Port Howe.  Rider of the Week.

We would love to have your suggestions for Rider of the Week. Please submit a photo and a description of the team you are nominating. This can be done by mail to: PO Box 7305, Riverview NB E1B 4T9 or by email: donna@AtlanticRider.com

First Dianne Babin Memorial Award

The inaugural Dianne Babin Memorial Award was presented at the 2001 WNSTCPA Awards Banquet. This Esprit de Corps award is given to a penner from each division who most exemplifies Dianne's indomitable spirit. Check out the winners...

Sweepings...

Congratulations to Katelyn Surette on a summer of hard work. She finally got to ride her two-year old filly Gosport Lil Jackie. Jackie is a brown/white tobiano paint with a willing-to-please attitude -you couldn't ask for a better horse. Katelyn is a member of the Bits and Boots Saddle Club in Yarmouth, NS. The end of the year award was a surprise for her when they called her name for Reserve Champion (English). Perhaps this first trophy will inspire her to get out there and win some more!

The Best of the Forum

The Riders' Forum is a great place to track down information about your horse. There are a few threads about exploring your horse's history and pedigree. Here's one of them:

I was wondering if anyone on the forum owned Redford Quarter Horses? I own a Redford and people always say to me they could tell he was a Redford from a mile away...and I've never seen another Redford so I have no clue what they're talking about!

Can you help? Check out this post.

Horse Quote for the Week

The victim complains and feels overwhelmed. The winner knows he can't alter the facts, but he can always decide how he'll react to those facts and what he'll say. Victim or victor. It's your choice.

Horses in Unexpected Places

From the Globe & Mail, Saturday, December 1, 2001:
Style has nothing to do with money or material goods. For me, it boils down to one question: Do you groom your own pets or do you hire a pet groomer? I groom all my own horses. People who don't touch their own pets clearly have no style and never will. (Toronto art collector and investment banker Bruce Bailey)
But we all knew that anyway, right?
