Atlantic Rider of the Week

Responsible Horse Owner Courses at NSAC

Courses will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. The Responsible Horse Owner II course is meant as a follow up to the Responsible Horse Owner I course. It is  recommended that students attend Responsible Horse Owner I before applying to II, but this is not a requirement. Details on these courses and information on other course offerings!

Ainsley Vince Tops Jump Canada Series

Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON and Catch 22, an 11-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding owned by Trinity Farms, are the leaders in the Jump Canada Standings heading in to the final stop on the tour, the Royal Horse Show.  Vince has accumulated 240.35 points over the season in the national series. Eric Lamaze Wins Opening Round of Canadian Championships at the Royal

As the top-placed Canadian in the competition, Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, who finished second in front of the hometown crowd, took the early lead in the Canadian Show Jumping Championship standings.  Riding Rosina, an 11-year-old Hannoverian mare owned by Stoney Hill, Lamaze was clear in a time of 68.07 seconds to finish runner-up to international competitor Eric van der Vleuten of the Netherlands who was also clear in a faster time of 66.95 seconds aboard Audi’s Castana. Jump Canada Initializes Competition Venue Development Fund

The concept is one in which the fund will reimburse show organizers, or geographic groups of competitions that re-invest in their competition facilities to enhance the showing experience and conditions for competitors and their horses. Congratulations to Rachelle Blaauwendraat from the Truro area who recently purchased our gelding Redford's Classy Dude.  Rachelle is a member of the Central Nova Horse and Pony Association, and we look forward to seeing this new team at their shows next summer.  Lynda & Rebecca from PEI wish you all the best, and hope Dude will be as dear a friend to you as he was to us.  Can't wait to see him going English!!

2002 Canadian League Swarovski World Cup Dressage Final Standings

Chesler Misses Royal for MASCUP Championship

With over 100 recognised Grand Prixs in the season held in over 33 states, the over $2,000,000 in prize money and $10,000 Riders bonus at the end of the year is a huge incentive for riders to come out and compete. Chesler participated in many of the MASCUP shows this season and recently received a call from MASCUP's President and founder, Russ Walther reminding her that she was still leading the series, and that he would love for her to come down to the last four shows of the season and defend her position. Walther commented, "Whether Frankie wins the top spot or not, just holding the lead for so long speaks well of her continued success." The rest of the story...

Ruth hails from Ottawa where she coaches and trains horses. She has a very successful record, including coaching Amy MacWhilham to win team and individual gold at the Coupe des Ameriques. World University Equestrian Championships (WUEC) Canada Finishes in 10th Place

After five days of intense competition, Team Canada finished in 10th place at the fifth World University Equestrian Championships (WUEC) held October 30th - November 3rd in Mechelen, Belgium. Canada was represented by Claire Danby (Montreal, QC), Jody Fraser (Cobden, ON), Jason Baillargeon (Stittsville, ON), and Janet Rowe (Etobicoke, ON)
as Chef d´Equipe/alternate. All of these riders had successfully competed at least two previous SRNCs. More on the competition...

Canadians Fare Well at Fair Hill

Out of 65 starters, Bennett and her 12-year-old Canadian thoroughbred gelding Livingstone, were in 29th place after dressage with 53 penalty points. The pair jumped clear but with 34.4 time penalties on the cross country moving them up into 19th spot. Bennett and Livingstone performed the only clear ride out of 38 remaining horse/riders combinations in the jumping test on the last day placing them 14th over all with a score of 87.40. Karen Cudmore Remains at Top of Canadian World Cup Standings

Finishing first at both the Blainville World Cup Qualifier and the Concours Hippique de Quebec World Cup Qualifier, Cudmore rose to the top of the standings aboard Conejo, a nine-year-old Holsteiner stallion owned by husband and coach, Blair Cudmore.  Her fourth place finish at the Caledon World Cup Qualifier, held July 28, added 11 points to her previous total, increasing her lead in the standings by 14 points.
