Sweepings...

Amadeus Mozart Ara-Li has been named Lippitt of the Year for the second year in a row by the Lippitt Club. The Lippitt is a family within the Morgan breed which has fewer outcrossings to other breeds, and no twentieth century outcrossings, than any other Morgans. The Lippitt Club has members throughout the US and Canada and is spreading to other countries. The Lippitt of the Year is the Lippitt who has generated the greatest amount of favourable notice for the Lippitt Morgan in the previous year. Amadeus Mozart Ara-Li is owned by Walter and Dawn Brown of Collina, outside  Sussex, NB.  The Browns traveled to the Lippitt Country Show in Tunbridge, Vermont on August 19 and 20 with "Mozart" to accept the award.

Arbitrators Issue Ruling in AHSA Drug Testing Case

Three arbitrators from the American Arbitration Association issued their ruling yesterday, August 31, 2000, in a matter involving trainers Linda Shahinian and Nicole Shahinian-Simpson, and owner El Campeon Farms vs. the American Horse Shows Association, Inc. (AHSA).  The case involved AHSA charges against the parties originally filed under the AHSA's Drugs and Medications rules.  Shahinian, Shahinian-Simpson, and El Campeon Farms had sought arbitration of the charges because Mrs. Simpson was a candidate for the Olympic Games jumping squad for the USA.  As a result, the case was not decided by the AHSA Hearing Committee. More on this story.

Horses in Unexpected Places

Building a barn? New walkway? We saw a great idea at Jana Hemphill's Wild Wind Equestrian Centre outside Summerside, PEI. She set a horse shoe in the concrete aisle of her barn. Do you know of other 'stable ideas'? Send them to donna@atlanticrider.com and we will share them with other Atlantic Canada horse enthusiasts.
