Neil Ishoy Wins Dressage Grand Prix at the Royal Horse Show
Ishoy of Binbrook, ON, easily topped the five-horse field riding Andiamo Tyme, a grey Oldenburg gelding. Ishoy is making a comeback to the competition ring in 2001, having hung up his riding boots after representing Canada at the 1982 World Championships in the sport of three day eventing. The equestrian community was saddened to learn of the death of an avid Nova Scotia equestrian recently. Gerald King was a member of the Jumping Circuit, the Annapolis Valley Hunt Club, and a former president of the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation - just to name a few. Ian Millar Wins $25,000 President's Cup at the Royal Horse Show
Seven-time Olympian Ian Millar took home his first win
from the Royal Horse Show with a victory in the $25,000 MDC Corp
President's Cup. Last to go in the six-horse jump-off, Millar, 54, of Perth, ON,
thrilled the crowd by clearing all the obstacles in the time of 35.16 seconds
with Glory Days, a nine-year-old selle francais gelding. More

Ainsley Vince Crowned Canadian Show Jumping Champion at the Royal
Held over two evenings of competition, Vince placed second
in Saturday night's $35,000 George Weston Canadian Championship competition.
Coupled with her ninth place showing in the $30,000 Invesco Canadian
Championship class on Friday's Opening Night, Vince earned a total of 26 points
with her horse, Catch 22, to claim the prestigious annual title,
awarded at the Royal Horse Show for the first time. Jill Henselwood of Oxford

France's Yann Candele Goes to the Dogs at the Royal Horse Show
France's Yann Candele was the fastest of the 15 riders who paired up with performing dogs to try to win the lion's share of the prize money. Teamed up with Jetta, a Shetland sheepdog, Candele and Espresso Thyme completed their course in a fast time of 36.23 seconds before Jetta tackled the dog-sized course of obstacles. Speed demon Candele, representing France as an individual at this year's Royal Horse Show, took home $6,000 for the day's work. More horses and dogs...

November 17: Adult Riding Clinic for parents (and friends) of PineHill Pony Club. Clinician is Colleen Maloney. Participants will ride twice during the day (one lunge lesson, one group lesson - maximum three riders). November 17: The NSEF hosts its annual Awards Luncheon at 12:30 pm at Exhibition Park. Tickets are $25.00 each and can be purchased by calling the NSEF office at 425-5450 ext. 333. There will be a silent auction held at the luncheon as well as a commercial Booth Area. Anyone interested in displaying their product is asked to contact the office as well.
November 24 - 25: PEI CADORA Kur Clinic with Joanna Crilly, CEF Medium Level Judge, CEF Level 2 Coach, and co-owner of Kars Riding School, Ottawa. Eric Lamaze Wins By Design at the Royal Horse Show
In the competition that saw the international riders design their own course over jumps with different point values, Lamaze came up with the winning combination, accumulating 1200 points before successfully negotiating the Joker fence to add another 200 points to his winning total of 1400. The 33-year-old, who also won on Opening Night at the Royal Horse Show, was aboard Rosina, a German-bred mare owned by Stoney Hill. Hoofbeat Hill Bids Farewell to Shady Lady
She came here to Hoofbeat Hill after having been taken from previous owners by the SPCA. She had been kept in atrocious conditions with two others (one of which was her foal), both of whom died. She was strong and survived. She was always kind and held no grudge against people. She seemed grateful for a good home. Shady Lady lived at Hoofbeat Hills for nearly twenty years. Read her story...
American Laura Kraut Edges Canadian Jill Henselwood at the Royal Horse Show
From a huge starting field of 34 horses, 11 jumped the first round cleanly to advance to the jump-off over the course designed by Brazil's Guilherme Nogueira Jorge. Jumping sixth in the order, Henselwood's time of 35.71 seconds held until the last rider on course, Kraut, took to the Coliseum. Riding Anthem, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood, Kraut of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, shaved a fraction of a second off of Henselwood's time, stopping the timers in 35.70 seconds. Kraut, who represented the U.S. at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, took home $20,000 in prize money for the evening's work. The details...
