World Cup Jumping Final - Dutch Horses on Their Way to Göteborg
All riders qualified for the Final, whose horses were blocked in the Netherlands, because of Foot and Mouth outbreak, immediately decided to move to Sweden. The Swedish Rolf-Gören Bentsson, the Dutch Jan Tops, Wim and Gerco Schröder, Yves Houtackers and the American Peter Wylde headed to Sweden. More...
U.S. Rider Heads for World Cup Final
U.S. rider Peter Wylde is on his way to compete at the Show Jumping World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, April 12-16, 2001, after the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture announced the release of ban of movement of horses in The Netherlands. Wylde from Dover Plains, NJ, had been based with Dutch trainer Henk Nooren in The Netherlands where an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) had previously restricted horses from traveling. Rookie Wins at American Grand Prix Show Jumping Championships
Rookie Rider, Paige Rassas of Northfield, IL captured the second round qualifier for the Intermediate American Grand Prix Show Jumping Championships. Rassas and Chica Bay, the 9 year old Holsteiner mare bested a field 41 starters by turning in double clear rounds and crossing the timers in 34.074 seconds. Rookie, Rassas out rode 1998 rider of the year, McLain Ward of Brewster, NY and the 9 year old Dutch-bred mare, Farrah by 2 seconds with a finishing time 36.036 seconds. The details...
Vale Dominates at AGA Show Jumping Championships
Aaron Vale then proceeded to capture the $10,000 Intermediate AGA Championship aboard Alliance, the 9 year-old German Mare. Again, Vale was one of only 6 double clear rounds out of a starting line up of 26 and turned in a blistering time of 32.41 seconds. Canadian Equestrian Team Rider, Eric Lamaze, finished just splits behind Vale with a clear round and 32.98 seconds aboard Ezior D'Anum. The rest of the results...

Patti is an AQHA judge, a member of the AQHA Professional Horseman's Committee, a certified NCCP coach. Foot and Mouth Disease - CEF Perspective
The Canadian Equestrian Federation (CEF) wishes
to provide the horse industry with the most up-to-date information available on
preventing the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). The CEF endorses the
recommendations that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has prepared for
those visiting or returning to Canada from FMD countries.
Whatever your involvement in the horse industry, even if you are simply
travelling outside of Canada for work or pleasure, the CEF asks that you comply
with the recommendations issued by the CFIA. Information

Horses in Unexpected Places
Any CBC radio fans out there? If you are, you may have encountered "Duke," the equine mascot for the Weekend Mornings show hosted by Stan Carew. The show (broadcast across the Maritimes from Halifax) often features 'stories' of Duke's escapes and the occasional background nicker. Check him out while your doing chores early on Saturday and Sunday mornings!
