Robb Connors Wins All Around Cowboy Championship!
Weather and competition was great in Sussex N.B. Two points separated the top two contenders, Robb Connors and Matt Hudson, going into the final challenge of the All Around Cowboy Championships hosted by the S.N.B. Cattle Penning Club. However, several more numbers separated the ages of the top two . Excitement grew in the All Around division as 13 year old Matthew Hudson and his good horse, Mr. Super Oakie (aka Willie), set out to prove that a kid can be a top hand . Don’t let the term "Cowboy " mislead anyone, either ! All three divisions had strong Cowgirl representation , with the girls dominating the Novice division and taking 4 of the top five placings. Horse Trials P.E.I. held a cross country jumping clinic on June 9th and 10th at the newly rebuilt Strathgartney Equestrian Park in Bonshaw, PEI. Twenty-three riders of all ages and from all three Maritime provinces participated. The clinic was taught by Alex Beaton of Nova Scotia. Horses in Unexpected Places
No one would be surprised to find horses at the beautiful and scenic Richibucto River Resort and Maple Leaf Icelandic Horse Farm in Upper Rexton, NB. They offer gorgeous log cottages by the Richibucto River, a restaurant, clinics, riding lessons, and breeding and sales of Icelandic horses. They do have a few unexpected horses at the farm, however. One example is their unique lamp posts that are surrounded by prancing horses. Check out the photo!
