Welcome New Family Members!
This week we welcome two new AtlanticRider.com family members. Distance Riding New Brunswick has developed two versions of their site so that those with slow connections can still download it in a reasonable amount of time. They emphasize the motto of distance riders, "To finish is to win." Our other new family member is the Appaloosa Horse Club of Nova Scotia. The site includes membership info, a directory, and pictures of members' horses and foals of this year. Check out these sites today!
Congratulations to Venture Stables!
AtlanticRider is proud to announce that Venture Stables has won one month of cover page advertising in our stable survey contest! Venture Stables is one of our family members from Prince Edward Island. Are you interested in advertising your business on our front page? Please email donna@atlanticrider.com for details.

Reining Canada Cup Qualifier at Nova Scotia Derby Show
The top seven finishers were presented with Reining Canada ribbons by Sandra Conrad, the President of the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation, and she was assisted by Linda Smith, the past Treasurer of the Nova Scotia Reining Horse Association who also modelled the Reining Canada embroidered vest that each of the top seven finishers will receive along with a share of the prize money of $7500.00 provided by Reining Canada. Ruth Downey, President of the 101 Reiners Club, carried the Canada flag and Karen Pierce, a member of the 101 Reiners, carried the Nova Scotia flag during the procession of competitors and prize presentation ceremonies. The top seven finishers are now qualified to participate in the Reining Canada Cup Final in Blainville, Quebec in September to determine the team to represent Canada at international reining events during the year 2002. See who qualified!

Horse Quote for the Week
Natural talent, no matter how great, can't make up for a
lack of basic knowledge and skills - but solid basics, combined with real desire
and commitment, can make any rider a good rider.

Horses in Unexpected Places
A modern-day Lady Godiva? Beverly King wanted
to win tickets to a Madonna concert so badly that she stripped to almost nothing
and rode her horse past a small crowd in a park. King was one of two winners of
a stunt contest, sponsored by a local radio station. She won concert tickets -
and a ticket for indecent exposure! The other contest winner shaved her head and
ate a bowl of worms mixed with dog food.
