Triple Crown Winner Euthanized
More than 20 years after becoming the last winner of thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown, Affirmed still provides the standard to which other horses are measured. Affirmed, the handsome chestnut colt who won the Triple Crown in 1978 in riveting stretch duels with Alydar, was euthanized Friday following months of leg problems. He was 26. NS Rider Racing All Over the Map!
Congratulations to Edwin Cameron of Tatamagouche, NS who has been competing successfully in the NAS HORSE RACING Circuit. Edwin was the winner of the 2D Open Finals on his horse, Less Return with a time of 15.391 winning a purse of $3445.20 US in Memphis, Tennessee. Paso Fino Horse Association Continues With Unprecedented Growth
For the eighth consecutive year the Paso Fino Horse Association has shown a steady membership growth. The 2000 Membership Year revealed a 7% increase over the previous year bringing the membership to 8,140. More about the Paso Fino Association.

Western Coaching Certificate. Rachel currently teaches students at D&J
Stables and Ammon Stables, both just outside Moncton. Rachel has shown on the
Quarter Horse circuit form many years, but is now heavily involved in the
Reining Circuit. She plans to show again this year with Mr. Tyrone Redford and
her new reining filly, JDF Dreamy Whiz, will be making her reining debut! To say
that this lady is "busy" would be an understatement! Congratulations

Reward Offered For Stolen Saddles
On Tuesday, January 16th, between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, two saddles were stolen from Deanna Phelan's barn, near Fredericton, NB. One was a 16 1/2" Devaceau (French) saddle, the other was a 16" Ian Millar Collegiate. Please contact Deanna if you have any information. A reward of $1000 is offered for information leading to the return of the saddles.

Record Prize Money to Highlight 2001 Cosequin Winter Equestrian Festival
World-class equestrian action begins in 2001 with the Cosequin Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida, January 24-April 8, with record prize money of $3 million which will be awarded over the ten-week series to jumper, hunter, and dressage rider. Horses in Unexpected Places
Next Wednesday, CBC's On the Road Again will feature Seaside Stables on Route 10 in Bay Bulls, NF. Seaside offers trail rides in summer and sleigh rides in winter. They plan to begin offering overnight trail rides in Summer 2001. In a region where hay goes for $5 - $5.50 per bale, John and Rosemary Tee are very dedicated to horses in general, and their draft crosses in particular. Planning a trip to Newfoundland?
