Atlantic Rider of the Week

are from Brookfield, NS. This picture was taken at last year's NS Provincial Exhibition where they won Horse Hunter Sweepstakes. This year, the Johnson family is awaiting the arrival a foal from Tazrulla, sired by Imaincasentmale. Lauren is currently testing for her "B" level in Pony Club.

World-Class Reining Cup Comes to Nova Scotia

The featured class will be the Reining Canada Cup qualifier, sponsored by Reining Canada with a total purse of $7500. This class is open to 10 riders from the Maritimes and any other rider named on the Reining Canada long list of the top 125 money earners in Canada. The top seven finishers of this class will be eligible to compete in the Canada Cup final in London, Ontario in September. Canada's reining team for international competition will be chosen at this show. It has recently been reported that the Canadian Team won the gold medal at the Nations' Cup, an international competition held in June in New Jersey. Canada Cup reining comes to Nova Scotia...

Canadian Representatives For FEI World Breeding Championships

Dressage Canada is pleased to announce that five exceptional young horses have been nominated to represent Canada at the 2001 World Breeder's Championship for Dressage Horses. The Championship will be held this year in Verden, Germany, from August 8 - 12. In 2000, Canada was represented in this competition by Quantumtyme, an Oldenburg gelding ridden and owned by Evi Strasser, who finished fourth place in the world in the five-year-old division. American Flag Flies on Opening Day of the Capital Classic Show Jumping Tournament

The Capital Classic Show Jumping Tournament opened in Ottawa with Michael Dorman of the United States taking top honours in the Modified Jumper competition. Dorman, based in Pennsylvania, bested the 16-horse field by posting a
clear round aboard Quriel.  Riding the eight-year-old Belgian-bred gelding, Dorman was able to leave all of the obstacles up in the fastest time of 63.49 seconds. More...

Canada's John Pearce Wins Welcome Stake at Capital Classic

With his Sydney Olympic partner, the 16-year-old Jamco's Vagabond, Pearce put in the fastest clear round in the jump-off with a time of 46.17 seconds.  Pearce was riding two of the three horses that advanced to the jump-off over the challenging course set by Finland's Aki Ylanne.  The course designer was hoping to see six horses advance to the jump-off, however a triple combination at the end of the track proved to be the nemesis of many competitors.
