Equine Canada Announces New Approved Equine Medications

The Equine Canada Medications Committee and the National Rules Committee have jointly announced that the medications Ranitidine, Cimetidine, and Omeprazole have been added to the list of permitted medications for all disciplines. The Medications Committee recommended the amendments and the Rules Committee approved the

Double World Cup Points Up for Grabs as Blainville Hosts First FEI ‘Coupe des Ameriques’

Expanded from the North American Dressage Championship concept, the prestigious FEI ‘Coupe des Ameriques’ will be presented in conjunction with the fourth annual CDI-W Dressage International de Blainville, presented by Swarovski Canada, and features $40,000 in prize money between the two competitions.  In addition, an Equine Canada (formerly CEF) national show will also be held. The Best of the Forum

Many horse fans across Atlantic Canada have enjoyed the performances of the Lipizzaner Stallions over the past few weeks. The beautiful grey Lipizzaners and Andalusians put on a spectacular performance! Team Italy Earns the Gold!

On Saturday, May 18th all the twelve teams looking to qualify for the World Equestrian Games paraded together under one flag: the 'world reining flag.' Once again the stands were filled with reining enthusiasts cheering the riders from all over Europe and the Middle East as Directors of the discipline warmly welcomed the horses, the riders, the breeders and the public. Hi, I am looking for a quiet older horse for my mother, who has just began to ride. I have other horses so it must get along well with the others. Canada's National Horse

In a recorded vote today (April 23, 2002) in the House of Commons, the Canadian Horse officially became Canada's National Horse by a vote of 166 yea and 58 nay. Congratulations to MP Murray Calder and Senator Lowell Murray for their dedication to Bill S-22. Thanks and congratulations is also extended to everyone across Canada and the United States for their support and effort in getting this bill passed!

Horses in Unexpected Places

A famous fall... singer Jewel was thrown from a colt at the Texas ranch of her boyfriend, rodeo champ Ty Murray, last month. A broken collarbone, broken rib, and major bruises forced her European tour to be pushed back but she said, "When you work around livestock, you're going to get hurt," ... some of us are all-too-aware of that!
