Horse Quote for the Week

A horseman is one who not only rides (although some fine horsemen do not ride at all) but also seeks to know the horse - its nature, needs and management - and feels a deep responsibility for his horses, the care they get, and the life they lead.
~ Susan Harris, in George H. Morris, The American Jumping Style.

Horses in Unexpected Places

And you thought your saddle was expensive?!? Roy Rogers' famous saddle with matching chaps and spurs sold recently for $670,000 (US). The saddle contains 1400 ounces of silver, 136 ounces of gold, and 500 Czechoslovakian rubies. The saddle, crafted in 1931, took six months for sixteen silversmiths to complete. The man who bought the saddle says it is a Valentine's Day gift for his wife because he feels that his love for her is similar to Roy Rogers' love for wife Dale Evans. Check out the saddle and other memorabilia at www.royrogers.com
