In South America however, FMD outbreaks are reported from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Details...

Canadian Reiners Take Silver at First FEI Nations' Cup
Canada's talented second-placed team consisted of Morey Fisk, Jason Grimshaw, Pierre Ouellet and Vern Sapergia. The top Canadian was Fisk, a young trainer based in Germany, riding Bran New Nic. Ouellet and his Super Olena performed a very clean and fast pattern while Sapergia, riding Show One Mark, demonstrated great horsemanship. Both Ouellet, originally from Montreal, QC, and Sapergia of Moose Jaw, SK, now train in Italy. 2000 Canadian Champion Jason Grimshaw of Calgary, AB, and Mr. Tanquery Bride rounded out the Canadian team effort. More on the Canadian team's historic placing...

Horses in Unexpected Places
Chatelaine magazine's June issue contains an article called "Get Out and Play!" where it profiles 'four great ways to tone your body and feel the breeze in your hair.' It describes horseback riding as one of the few sports that works just about every muscle in your body, "Saddle up for great muscular strength and endurance, as good as isometric strength training." The article asks, "Who hasn't dreamed of riding a horse?" Our answer: no one! The article touches on the Fitness Factor issues: Strength (targets inner and outer thighs; balance and posture improve), Bonus (country air and stress reduction), Fun Factor, Getting Started, and Tip (wear comfortable pants).
