Rider of the Week

Ceci Flanagan and Crescendo, have moved from Hampton, NB (Evergreen Stables) to Dartmouth, NS. "Bo" is now living at Pinehill Equestrian Centre in Lawrencetown, NS with a terrific view of Lawrencetown Beach. The pair is training with Andy Wadowski and Pam LeDrew - looking forward to a summer of showing and meeting new people in NS.   Rider of the Week.

Megan White Named 2000 Equestrian of the Year

The Canadian Equestrian Federation (CEF) has named Megan White of Wolfville, NS, the 2000 recipient of the Doctor George Jacobsen Trophy presented to the CEF Equestrian of the Year. White, 20, first began riding at the age of seven. She became very involved with the Annapolis branch of the Canadian Pony Club and achieved her 'A' Level in 1998. Congratulations to a talented Atlantic Rider!

Jump Canada Distributes 2000 Levy Money to Provinces

Mark Samuel, Chair of the Jump Canada Board (JCB), is pleased to announce a year-end distribution of $57,417.45 back to the provinces resulting from Jump Canada Levy funds collected in the year 2000. More...

Lamaze Masters Zada Enterprises Grand Prix

Lamaze and Husker Du, a 12-year-old Dutch warmblood, riding second in the jump-off field of eight, cleared the seven jumping efforts in 45.898 seconds. "With six riders behind me (in the jump-off), I felt I had nothing to lose," said Lamaze, who earned $22,500. "It was a bit unexpected. This is only the fourth time I've ridden Husker Du. He's a brave, very dependable horse who makes my job easy." More...

New Brunswick rider Denielle Gallagher is one of Husker Du's grooms in Florida. She has been in Florida since January and is staying for the entire show season to work with twelve Canadian horses that are being shown by Eric Lamaze, Eva Pracht and Martina Pracht. She is planning to travel with the horses when they leave Florida in March. She hopes to go to Europe in May and then back to the North American circuit.

Introducing the 2000/2001 WBFSH International Breeding Guide

Currently, 43 studbooks hold member status with the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses, a not-for-profit organization that strives to promote breeding on an international scale. One of the most important undertakings of the WBFSH was the successful establishment of the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in the three Olympic disciplines of show jumping, dressage and eventing. Kelly Bruder Named 2000 Junior Equestrian of the Year

The Canadian Equestrian Federation (CEF) has named Kelly Bruder of Ariss, ON, the 2000 recipient of the Gillian Wilson Trophy, presented to the CEF Junior Equestrian of the Year. Bruder, who has just turned 19, began riding at an early age and was an active member of the Pony Club. Her interests lied in both dressage and driving and Bruder found her horses doubling as entries in both disciplines. More...

Chapot Captures $5000 Speed Class

Chapot was fault-free over the jumping course in 56.173 seconds,  defeating Jason McArdle, riding Nero Van Het. McArdle finished a clear round in 57.275 seconds, followed by the 25 year-old McLain Ward of Brewster, NY, who was clocked in at 57.361 aboard the Dutch Bred mount, Opus. More...

Muffie Guthrie Named 2000 CEF Volunteer of the Year

Having acted as Team Leader at the 1999 Pan American Games, Guthrie once again made a huge commitment to equestrian sport by undertaking the role of Team Leader for the Canadian Equestrian Team athletes traveling to Sydney, AUS, to compete in the 2000 Olympic Games. As the contact person between the Canadian Olympic Association and the Canadian Equestrian Team, Guthrie was responsible for communicating the needs of both organizations. More...
