Rider of the Week
Erin Maloney and Curious George, successfully competed in a number of shows last summer, winning the Cross-Rail Hunter Division in the GMHC Year End Awards. Last fall the pair successfully completed Erin's C1 Level in Pony Club and will be shooting to duplicate this success at C2 Level in the coming season - along with competing at shows. Erin's mother, Colleen purchased the former race horse as a school horse but, as of Christmas Day, "George" officially belongs to Erin. Rider of the Week.

Horse Quote for the Week
There are a million miles of difference between the words
"win" and "beat." We don't even allow the word
"beat" on this farm. Because when you start talking about beating
someone, you've lost your concentration. You're thinking about the opposition.
~ Saddle-Seat Trainer Helen Crabtree, in Classic Magazine
Riders Named to European Development Tour
Monica Campbell, currently residing in England, Karen Cudmore of Omaha, Nebraska, Frankie Chesler of Orangeville, ON, Amy Millar of Perth, ON, and Mark Samuel of Toronto, ON, have been selected to participate in the tour. Each rider will take a minimum of two horses, with a third travelling at the expense of the rider. More on the Development Tour.
Horses in Unexpected Places
Have you seen the new Adidas ad? It shows soccer balls dumped all over the town square. A wide assortment of people kick the ball around. Then it is passed toward a mounted policeman... and guess who kicks it? If you said, "the horse," you're absolutely right! The horse uses a hind hoof, in a sideways motion, to pass the soccer ball! Sometimes its worth it to stay in front of the television - instead of going to the refrigerator - during a commercial!
