Evi Strasser & Jacqueline Brooks to Represent Canada at FEI Dressage World Cup Final

Two Canadian riders will head down the centerline at the 2007 FEI Dressage World Cup Final taking place April19-22 in Las Vegas , USA .

As the winner of the Canadian World Cup League, Evi Strasser of Sainte Adele , QC will be heading to Las Vegas with her 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Quantum Tyme.

“I'm very excited to go to the World Cup Final, since I have worked for the past year to qualify for this event. Las Vegas is a super show and the crowed is amazing,” commented Strasser, who has represented Canada at three World Cup Finals, including the 2005 Final also held in Las Vegas .

Strasser earned her berth to the World Cup Final after several fantastic world cup qualifier finishes aboard her 2006 World Equestrian Games (WEG) mount and long-time partner, Quantum Tyme. Her qualifying results included Grand Prix Freestyle wins on a score of 71.750% at the Ottawa Summer Classic CDI3* and 73.675% at the CDI 3* Blainville Dressage International in Quebec, which in turn helped qualify her for the Canadian League Dressage World Cup Final, held November 8-9 at the CDI 3*-W Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON. Strasser was declared the winner of the Canadian League Final, taking first place in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle with scores of 66.208% and 69.450% respectively.

Strasser and Quantum Tyme will fly to Los Angeles , USA in early April, and from there head to Las Vegas . “I will prepare myself the same way I did for the World Equestrian Games,” stated Strasser, who went on to say that although she currently has new freestyle music in the works, she will most likely stick to her beautiful, trademark Lion King performance for the Freestyle at the Final.


Also competing for Canada at the 2007 FEI World Cup Final is Jacqueline Brooks of Mount Albert, ON, who was awarded a ‘Wild Card’ spot by the FEI Dressage Committee.

 

“I'm thrilled to be competing in the Finals,” commented Brooks, who will be making her debut at the World Cup Final riding the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Gran Gesto, owned by Anne Welch and Brinc Ltd.  “We have been training all winter with Vegas in mind!  And I can't wait to watch so many

of the world’s best riders training and competing.”

 

Brooks’ had a very successful 2006 season aboard Gran Gesto, which included being named to the 2006 WEG Team. Although an unfortunate injury left the duo unable to compete at the Games, they were very successful on the European circuit leading up to the WEG. At the CDI 3* Pompadour in France last July, the duo earned a score of 67.708% for a third place finish in the Grand Prix, and were second in the Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 69.550%.
