Dressage Canada Announces Southern Training Centres
Ottawa, ON—Dressage
Canada is pleased to announce that Arlene ‘Tuny’ Page, owner of Still Point Farm
in Wellington, FL, and
Flo Brown,
owner of Dove Hollow Farm in Olivenhain, CA, have graciously allowed the
Canadian Dressage Team to use their facilities for training sessions throughout
the season. Both locations will be official southern training centres for
Canada's World Equestrian Games (WEG) hopefuls to work with the Technical Coach
Advisor Robert Dover.
“I could not be more thrilled and grateful to the owners and managers of Dove
Hollow and Still Point Farms for their wonderful generosity in becoming Team
Canada's official winter training facilities. These are two world-class
locations which will allow our riders to prepare in perfect conditions,
regardless of the weather, for the World Equestrian Games qualifiers this
winter/spring,” said Dover. “My thanks go out again to Tuny Page and
Flo Brown.”
Spanning five acres, Dove Hollow boasts three dressage arenas, one 200’ x 75’
covered indoor and two regulation sized dressage arenas both with mirrors and
excellent sand footing on their 40 horse premiere dressage training centre.
“I think that we should help each other out,” said Laurie Doyle, Dove Hollow
Farm Head Trainer. “Canada is our northern neighbour and we love having Robert
out to Dove Hollow. It is a win-win situation for everyone.”
Still Point Farm is situated on 10 acres with 34 permanent and up to 20 portable
stalls. Page has owned the facility for eight years and takes pride in having
some of the world’s best riders and horses at her top-notch training centre,
which has both full-sized indoor and outdoor training arenas.
“Still Point Farm is the year round base for international dressage riders Lisa
Wilcox, Arlene Page and Oded Shimoni,” said Page. “Being international athletes,
we welcome being in a situation where we can host Canada’s top dressage talent
and Dressage Canada.”
The first official training session for Canadian WEG declared riders has been
scheduled for:
January 16–17, 2010
