Junehill's Flirtation

We’ll always miss how she nickered every time someone walked into the barn. It’s quiet without her at feeding time. We only had a year and nine amazing months with her, but at least she died happy. Lucy always tried to impress her owner. She’d do anything you asked of her. Lucy helped Jess achieve her Western Rider Level one, and got High Point twice and placed very well at all shows in her first show season. We never really thought she’d go so soon, but she’s happy where she is now, with her other friends, eating and content. I hope she misses us as much as we miss her here.

Thanks to Dr. Nicole Wanamaker, for coming in storms and going the extra mile for Lucy and showing so much passion for what you do.

To Dr. Keith Murch and Valerie, that did all they could to save her.

To Stacey Maxwell, thank you for bringing me Lucy and making me ride her and all the support you have given me and everything you did while she was sick.

To Ashley David, who was there for me through everything and did night shifts with me and taught me a lot

To my parents Kim & Bruce Northrup

To Christine and Jill for a shoulder to cry on thanks for the support from all my friends Stacey, Tracey, Molly and Chantel

~ Love Jessica Northrup

I Smile

 I Smile.
A slight grin crawls across my face
A glimmer shines within my eyes
As I look at her, I smile
Munching, Munching. Happy, and content…
Perfectly consistent with every chew.
I wonder…
What makes her so special?
What about her makes me so happy?

A ray of sun, dances across her dusty coat
Two stepping on the chilly breeze,
Waltzing with the strand of hay entwined in her chestnut mane
Tasseled are her ears, and long whiskers.
But ever so much longer, are her gentle inquisitive gazes
The gazes that see right through you and back
Way past your soul and straight to the core of your heart

Her sudden pause terminates my dreaming
But now it’s just a momentary halt of chewing
Couples with a wistful glance to the field
Wrangle ambling she continues to graze
I breathe in her soft scent and find myself happy
Much happier than before I knew that white star and those adoring gazes
I know not why, but still…

I smile
